OLD MEXICO MEETS NEW MEXICO
ShowHouse Santa Fe 2016 brought over 25 Santa Fe Interior Designers together for another year of creativity in design expression benefitting the local Santa Fe schools. The partnernship with Dollars4schools.org and Santa Fe Properties along with the Santa Fe business community of sponsors occurs once a year for 2 weekends in October. This year's ShowHouse theme "Everything Old is New Again" MEXICO, provided the creative premise for an 8,000 sq ft historic house. Jennifer Ashton's design vision for the Family Room included familiar images from her mother's roots from Guanajuato, Mexico. Touches of nostalgic sepia imagery of her family captured the spirit of the living space. Bold colors bloomed in abundance from the unique works of art which are some of Jennifer's favorites including Hunt Slonem's, Bunnies and Christopher Martin's Disc Series custom designed and created specifically for the space on a high line for playful interest. Bands of color continued to stream from a beautifully crafted wool rug designed by Paul Smith for fashion savvy and pure fun. Furnishings quietly function for modern day ease and comfort with a minimal media wall showcasing a pair of 1970's serape-studded custom upholstered speakers with rhinestone trim under a pair of vintage chrome and glass tables.
